Lepau Restaurant, Kuching

The best place to get closer to the Sarawak Culture!

Location: Lepau Restaurant located at Jalan Ban Hock, Kuching Infront of Grand Supreme Hotel and Next To Sharing Planet

Adress: 395, Jalan Ban Hock, 93100 Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia

Info: This Is Halal Restaurant, Open at 10am-2PM, 5.30pm-11pm. This is one of the most crowed and happening place on the weekend at Kuching. The food was nice and affordable. The menu serve also very local and it is one of the best place you can enjoy Kayan’s Foods. (*Kayan, indigenous people of central Borneo)

Experience: We went there on night after work. As the place is quite popular we have to reserve table first in order to secure that we have table later. Reservation can be made by calling their general line. We reach around 8.30pm and there already have number of people enjoying some authentic borneo food. We are 4 person, we order ala carte set menu which is best of best and was recommended by the staff. First we order some Petai Masak Sambal Belacan, Fried stir Tapiocca, Ikan Siakap Tiga Rasa and 1 Set of Manuk Pansuh serve with Bario rice (*Manuk pansuh is a dish prepared by cooking chicken meat in a bamboo). The price is quite affordable as it cost only RM100+ For all the menu according to the portion choosen. As for portion it give you choices of Small, Medium and Large with different price and choices. If you are in 4 or 5 person and chose to taste lots of cuisine, I would recommend
you to take small portion as it is quite lot be share.

Overall I would like to recommend this place for everyone. I rate this place as number one in kuching. The service is good, staff are friendly, place is clean with unique decoration and sound of a breakthrough sape music  (*sape' (sampek, sampeh, sapek) is a traditional lute of many of the Orang Ulu or "upriver people", mainly the "Kayan" and "Kenyah" community who live in the longhouses that line the rivers of Central Borneo). Everything was perfect. Thumbs up to the owner and the crew! Cheers !
